if batman was a carpenter...

...then i have his utility belt.

ok, i'm not even sure what that means. i do, however, now own all my own tools & a very cool belt to hold them in [until now i have been borrowing an old belt & tools from my boss]. jon & i went out on saturday for 'big tool day' as he called it, & made these purchases. i wanted to get a few paychecks behind me & give it a trial run before making a financial commitment to my new trade... so i guess this means i'm IN. as i'm writing this i laugh to myself because i just called in for tomorrow morning due to other stuff i have to get done...

things have been busy, as can be seen by my infrequent & shallow posts. let's play a little catch up...

school is winding down, the upcoming weekend will mark my last 2 days of grad school, with graduation in december. i keep getting new therapy clients at my internship/ future job, which is a good thing because i'll need at least 20 hours a week for licensure, & as soon as i graduate i'll start getting paid for it. the days seem long when i go to work at 7:30, rush home to clean up at noon, then spend all afternoon/evening in therapy. luckily, thats only 2 days a week right now. eventually i'll work 1/2 days carpentry & half therapy. it makes for a good balance.

i've been seeing my own therapist for almost a month now. the grad program at SNU builds a certain amount into tuition to cover about 10 sessions. so far, it has been pretty good. last week we started digging into some stuff that spurred new thinking. i hope it continues. not only is it professionally responsible to undergo my own ongoing therapy, but i have wanted to do this for a long time. the timing is also a plus what with my mom popping back up a month ago. it's kind of weird being on the couch instead of in the chair, but it's nice to have someone listening to & taking care of me for a change. i highly recommend it for anyone & everyone.

i'm listening to andrew bird's the mysterious production of eggs that guillot or tyler gave me some time ago & it's really good. i kind of get alot of music at once from others sometimes, but then it takes me a few months before i really give it a good listen & absorb it into my regular listenings. this is one of those cases. thanks guillot or tyler!

so enough about me, what have you been up to?

Let's see....what have I been up to? Apparently not being a good wife as my husband has said, "...it's nice to have someone listening to & taking care of me for a change."
Ouch, Joey. I thought we were friends. Now I'm left to wonder who this stranger is that I sleep beside....

really glad you're listening to andrew bird. i have about 4 more bands i'd like to give you, but i will wait to you play some catch-up on the rest. i have gradually increased my listening to wilco, and they are growing on me. they are sinking in like beer did for me. a little bitter at first, then just a cure for boredom, then a treat which i appreciate and enjoy.
holler if you get a break in the busy schedule. would love to compare thoughts on the therapeutic experience, and try to recruit you to abandon all your current progress to come work at DHS with me for a while.
