hey man...thanks for the friendly hello. haha. how's the back? lookin like i may be testing my manual laboring abilities before long as well...running out of money quick, and haven't found anything solid yet so i've resorted to temp agencies.
your reference to rocinate following the talks of the psychological rewards of manual labor has strengthened my resolve to convince you to read Transformation, by Robert Johnson. it's really short (105 small pages with big type), but packed with some really good stuff. uses don quixote, hamlet, and faust to explore the male psyche.
you going to death cab??

yeah, that's the guy. he's got several good books, but Transformation is his best, both in content and delivery. he explores the male psyche as exposed in the persona's of don quixote (simple man), hamlet (complex man), and faust (enlightened man). his writings are all based on an assumption that a specific culture/generation/era expresses its collective unconscious through the myth's that it creates, which is not an uncommon claim. however, his ability to illuminate that unconscious is superlative to any i've read.
